What does a School Counselor do?
As your child's School Counselor I am committed to nurturing, supporting and advocating for the academic and social/emotional growth and development for each student. I will work to help children develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to become competent, confident and responsible learners. My emphasis is on a meeting children's needs through prevention, early identification and intervention.
I will work with students through individual and group counseling, I will assist students in their school transition and adjustment, goal-setting and academic achievement, self-awareness, as well as to help teach them problem solving and conflict resolution skills.I will work collaboratively with all school and community stakeholders in a proactive and equitable manner to provide services and supports to all students, parents/guardians, and instructional staff.
