10 Ways to Prepare Your Child for Kindergarten:
1. Read to them everyday.
2. Strengthen their fine motor skills by using playdough, Legos, sand, stringing beads, markers, colored pencils, shaving cream,...
3. Practice writing their name with just the first letter capitalized.
4. Learn to follow 2 and 3 step directions.
5. Practice using good manners.
6. Practice using their social skills - such as - sharing, taking turns, asking for help when needed, being patient, listening while others are speaking,....
7. Help your child learn how to take responsibility - such as - cleaning up their messes, getting dressed, helping out around the house, putting away their toys,...
8. Help build their self esteem by allowing your child to struggle and overcome obstacles!
9. Teach your child to be a problem solver. Encourage and help them find a solution instead of immediately solving the problem for them. It is important for them to realize that they can do hard things, and to do things that they do not like to do!
10. HAVE FUN! LET THEM GET DIRTY! LET THEM BE KIDS!
Faith - Learning - Service
Saint Paul School is a Catholic community dedicated to sharing our faith with others. In the ongoing process of educating the whole child, we support the development of our students spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically. As 21st century learners and problem solvers, our students strive to be models of Christ, moral leaders in service to others, and creators of a more humane and just world.
